Cancer treatment changes skin. Chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted therapies and hormone treatments can leave skin drier, thinner, more reactive and easily irritated — sometimes for months after treatment ends. Many clients tell us they miss the simple comfort of a facial but are worried about doing anything that might aggravate their skin.

The Oncology Facial has been built specifically for this. Every product and technique has been selected to avoid common irritants and sensitisers, with no exfoliation, no needling, no heat and no fragrance. The aim isn't anti-ageing results — it's comfort, hydration and a moment of care for skin that's having a difficult time.

This treatment is only carried out by practitioners trained in oncology treatments.

THE TREATMENT

What happens during your facial

Stage 1 — Cleansing and toning

No brushes, no exfoliating cloths, no ultrasonic devices. Cleansing is done by hand, with a fragrance-free, low-pH cleanser suited to compromised or thinning skin, using minimal pressure throughout.

Stage 2 — Gentle Facial Massage

A slow, light-pressure massage using only hands — no tools, no vibration, no heat. Movements are kept soft and flowing, focused on easing tension in the jaw, temples and forehead rather than working the skin itself.

Pressure is adapted throughout to your comfort and any areas flagged at consultation. Radiotherapy sites, areas near a central line or port, and any region with lymphoedema risk are avoided entirely. If a full facial massage isn't appropriate for your current treatment stage, this is replaced with a gentle hand or shoulder massage instead.

This stage is about calming the nervous system as much as the skin — many clients tell us it's the part of the facial they miss most during treatment.

Stage 3 — Hydration Infusion

We apply a fragrance-free hydrating serum, chosen for a simple, low-allergen ingredient list — no acids, no retinoids, no essential oils. Applied by hand with light pressure, this stage focuses on replenishing moisture in skin that's often lost its ability to retain it.

Stage 4 — Barrier Support Mask

A soothing, occlusive mask is applied to help lock in hydration and support the skin's compromised barrier. While the mask works, you're welcome to simply rest, or have a light hand or shoulder massage if that feels comfortable — anything more is skipped unless you ask for it

Stage 5 — Protection

To finish, we apply a soothing calming cream formulated for sensitive. A blend of black currant seed oil, balloon plant extract and sunflower oil helps support and strengthen the skin.

After weeks of chemotherapy, my skin felt dry, tight and uncomfortable. This facial was exactly what I needed. It was incredibly gentle, soothing and relaxing. For the first time in months, I felt like I was being cared for, not just treated.

My skin had become so sensitive during treatment that I was worried nothing would help. Every product used felt calming, and there wasn't a single moment of discomfort. I couldn't believe how soft and hydrated my skin felt afterwards. I highly recommend this experience to anyone going through cancer treatment

The facial itself was wonderful, but what meant the most was how genuinely cared for I felt. The clinic created such a peaceful environment, and the treatment gave me a much-needed boost to my confidence at a difficult time. It's an experience I'll never forget.
